Each year, countless couples make the decision to hold their wedding outdoors. Holding an outdoor wedding might seem less complicated than an indoor wedding, but there are some potential hiccups that could cause chaos on your big day. To avoid this, it is important that you and your wedding coordinator carefully plan ahead of time. Here are some questions to ask while planning.

Is the Venue Accessible?

While touring various outdoor wedding venues, you will undoubtedly see at least one that has a questionable path to and from it. Despite the beauty of the locations you visit, you have to remember that your guests have to actually get to and from there. If the venue you want is inaccessible, you need to think about how to make it easier for them.

For instance, do you plan to have shuttles that will transport the guests to the venue? Where will guests park their cars during the service? Will there be enough shuttle runs to and from the venue to get everyone to the wedding on time?

Do You Need Permits?

Even if a location is routinely used by other couples for their weddings, you might still have to get a permit to hold your wedding there. Venues, such as parks, often require that permits are obtained. If you skip out on getting the permits, you could be in for a major surprise on your wedding day. A couple who did get the necessary permits might have your ideal venue already booked.

In addition to obtaining the necessary permits, you need to know the rules of the venue. The venue might have limitations on how many people can be in the area at once or have an end time that you and your guests need to respect.

What If There Is Bad Weather?

Bad weather might seem like a nightmare scenario for an outdoor wedding, but whether or not that is actually true depends on several elements. Although it would be nice if it is bright and sunny on your wedding day, it could rain. If it does, you do not necessarily have to abandon your venue.

It does mean that you need to be prepared to keep guests and yourself out of the rain. The answer could be as simple as putting up a tent  for the occasion. You could even provide umbrellas for your guests and wedding party.

Your wedding coordinator can help you identify other questions you need to answer while assessing outdoor venues. By asking the right questions, you can almost guarantee your day goes without issue. For more information, contact companies such as Deer Mountain Events.
